Are you using Flash Catalyst?

flash_catalystFlash Catalyst which is part of the CS5 collection of applications has been available officially for about a month now (formally in public beta). Personally, being code centric I have not done much with Catalyst but I am wondering how its acceptance has been in the community?

Have you been using Flash Catalyst and if so what have you created?

Please supply links.

Rarely. Most Photoshop/Illustrator files I get aren’t made to work well with Catalyst. By the time you fix them to do so, it’s just easier to export the FXG out and manually merge into your Flex Builder project. For more complex screens, however, including those with states, it’s a lot easier to use Catalyst to do the grunt work of the FXG with better tools for such things than Illustrator & Photoshop provide. Again, that’s rare; once you get in the groove in Photoshop, it’s just easier to do all your export there, and build manually in Design View in Flash Builder.

I used Flash Catalyst to transfer my Illustrator designs into MXML Graphics. I highly recommend it for turning Illustrator / Photoshop designs into MXML graphics. However I always scrap the project file that is created and have to tweak a lot of the metrics (like 100% width instead of a fixed width for a fill).
