I mentioned last week that I would be a contributing author on the new AIR Cookbook from O’Reilly. Now here is your chance to get your recipe’s published in the book or simply share your knowledge with the world.
Here is how it works.
Simply post your recipe at the AIR Cookbook site and if it is a topic that is of interest to the authors, it will also make it into the printed version of the Adobe AIR Cookbook. Here is a list of some specefic areas that we are in need of for the printed book.
HTML Content - Needed By June 25
Bridging Content from Different Security Sandboxes
Embedded SQL Database Programming - Needed By July 10
Using Transactions with Queries
Including a Pre-Populated Database in an Application
Developing Mash-up AIR applications - Needed By July 18
Consuming Ebay Web Services
File API - Needed By July 7
Creative uses for reading in and writing out data using the File API
Creative Submissions - Needed By July 15
Creative Use of the Service Monitor Framework
Storing a Database in the EncryptedLocalStore
If you would like to post a recipe for any of these topics, please do so at the official cookbook site and they could find their way into the Adobe AIR Cookbook: Solutions and Examples for Rich Internet Application Developers

Hi Rich,
I saw your post and decided to post few articles to the online AIR Cookbook and try to get in the hardcopy book …
Tough when I submit an entry to the AIR Cookbook and check the “consideration from O’Railly” checkbox, I am redirected to submitting my entry to the FLEX Cookbook …
So .. I was wondering if you know whether the entries are considered for the AIR Cookbook or not ? Because since i submit HTML AIR articles I guess they’ll be discarded .. u know .. any idea about what’s going on ?

Hi Marin–thanks for reporting this. I see this behavior when using FireFox, but not when using Safari. The issue you’re seeing is a vestige, left over from a previous release. Do not worry, however, your post is there in the AIR Cookbook site, and will still be considered for the AIR Cookbook print version.
I apologize for any confusion this might have caused. The “redirect” you’re seeing is left over from a previous release, when we used to direct users over to the O’Reilly Media website when an author “opted in” to be considered for the O’Reilly publications. We stopped using this process because so many people had “pop-up blockers” disabled in their browsers. Because you had “pop-up” blockers enabled on your browser, you were redirected and that’s why you saw the O’Reilly Flex Cookbook opt-in behavior.
If you have any more questions, please contact me at amywong at adobe.com.For anyone else, please take note. I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause you.
