Happy Holidays!
December 24th, 2007Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Joe Berkovitz has posted a new version of UrlKit. Version 0.91now uses back-ported Flex 3 deep linking in its Flex 2 version, providing good cross-browser support for IE7 and Safari. The new enabled property of FlexBrowserManagerAdapter permits applications to delay the initialization of UrlKit until their application reaches a fully initialized state. The new navigate() method permits applications to optionally navigate by directly specifying a URL rather than by modifying a navigational model.
URLKit is also permalinked in the AS3 Libs section on this site.
These two components have been updated to have notification when used in static mode. In other words, the default behavior is to rise from the system tray area, remain for 3 seconds (or a user defined amount) and fall back off screen. You also have the option to have the window rise from the tray area and sit statically. When using this mode, you have the new feature of having the window bounce until the user interacts with it.

For more information and a sample application please visit AlertWindow for the flash/html version and AlertMXWindow for the Flex version. The SWC file is available here. Finally a sample application is available here.

The EverythingFlexAIR1.swc file includes the ContextWindow, AlertWindow, AlertMXWindow, ConnectionManager, and UpdateManager classes.

Ribbit, the company who is building a Flex based API for integrating telephony within Flex based applications has now had their official release party and has now opened up their components to a public beta. They have also announced a new contest:
The best Ribbit Phone (like Joe Johnston’s AIR iPhone) will receive a top prize of $2500. Both the Ribbit team as well as the developer community will vote for the winners. Official terms of the contest will be posted to the Ribbit developer community upon start of the contest.
Check out this very cool new technology at developer.ribbit.com
I have also added a permanent link to Ribbit in the AS3 Libraries page.
