Yahoo Doesn’t Dissapoint

Yahoo has released a new set of AS3 libraries. This includes API libraries for Answers, Weather, Search, Upcoming and a brand new Yahoo! Maps AS3 Communication Kit that allows you to use Yahoo! Maps from a Flex 2 / ActionScript 3.0 project. Although they still have not upgraded the maps API to be truly AS3, they have included a wrapper for the old AS2 classes. This is similar to the current workaround is now standardized and I assume will be backward compatible when they do release a true AS3 map API.

Well… the still lack of a pure Flex 2 Maps API is dissapointing. Tim Walling already created a nice Flex 2 Wrapper over the 1.5 API (http://www.timwalling.com/2007/03/05/get-your-map-on-first-release-of-flexmap/).
I was really hoping for that Flex 2 API… Sigh!

Yeah and I have done a bunch of workarounds as well. My hope is that when they actually do upgrade to AS3 they keep the API the same as this release with the wrapper so that it will just be a matter up changing the SWC.
